Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with his Saudi and Turkish counterparts. The discussions focused on follow-up measures under the Makkah Defence Alliance.
Dar spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The talks also covered regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Ministers Review Progress on Makkah Pact
The Makkah Defence Alliance was signed on August 7. The agreement brought together Muslim nations concerned by the Middle East conflict.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye held the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Istanbul on August 31. The committee operates under the framework of the alliance.
During his conversation with Prince Faisal, Dar reviewed the understandings reached at the Istanbul meeting. Both ministers also discussed cooperation on issues at multilateral forums.
The two sides exchanged views on regional developments and matters of common interest. They agreed to remain in close contact regarding future cooperation.
Pakistan, Turkiye Discuss Enhanced Cooperation
Dar thanked Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan for hosting the inaugural committee meeting in Istanbul. The two leaders reviewed progress made under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
They discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation within the alliance. In addition, both ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments.
The discussion also focused on opportunities for greater coordination at multilateral forums. Consequently, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration.
Dar and Fidan agreed to maintain regular contact on issues of mutual interest. The talks highlighted ongoing efforts to advance cooperation under the Makkah Defence Alliance.
