ISLAMABAD: Authorities have decided to transfer 284 foreign nationals to Adiala Jail following their arrests over alleged online fraud and pornographic content.
Most of the detainees reportedly include Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesian nationals arrested during operations in a private housing society in Islamabad.
The Interior Ministry withdrew an earlier notification that had designated a plaza inside the housing society as a sub-jail.
Meanwhile, authorities cancelled the foreignersโ visas and issued one-time exit permits to facilitate their transfer and eventual deportation.
Detainees Face Deportation Within 15 Days
According to media reports, the detainees will remain at Adiala Jail while authorities complete legal and deportation procedures.
Officials expect to deport the foreign nationals from Pakistan within 15 days under the terms of their exit permits.
Authorities arrested the suspects over allegations involving online fraud, extortion and investment-related schemes operated through mobile applications.
Investigators also traced alleged Pakistani facilitators and handlers linked to the suspected network.
Officials said most of the arrested foreigners had entered Pakistan on tourist or visit visas.
The arrests followed coordinated operations in Islamabad targeting suspected illegal online activities.
Authorities are now completing legal formalities before sending the detainees back to their respective countries.
The development comes amid intensified action against foreign nationals allegedly involved in criminal activities within Pakistan.
Officials said the transfer to Adiala Jail would allow authorities to maintain custody while completing the required deportation process.
The authorities are also continuing investigations into local individuals allegedly connected with the suspected network.
