A customs officer was martyred after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a customs vehicle near the Rawalpindi Toll Plaza on the Main Indus Highway in Kohat.
According to initial reports, the attackers sprayed the vehicle with bullets. As a result, another customs officer suffered serious injuries during the assault.
The intense gunfire also reportedly caused the customs vehicle to catch fire. However, emergency responders reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported and began rescue operations.
Victims Shifted to Hospital
Rescue teams transported the deceased officer and the injured official to DHQ Hospital for medical treatment and legal formalities.
Authorities identified the martyred customs officer as Jawad. Meanwhile, the injured officer was identified as Basirullah, who is receiving treatment for his injuries.
Fire Quickly Brought Under Control
Police officials said firefighters managed to control the blaze within a short time. Their swift response prevented the fire from spreading further.
After securing the area, law enforcement personnel collected initial evidence from the scene and began documenting the incident.

Police have launched an investigation into the deadly attack. Authorities are working to determine the identity of the attackers and establish the motive behind the shooting.
