The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), working with a federal intelligence agency, has arrested three suspected militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Karachi.
According to officials, the joint operations led to the recovery of two hand grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED). Investigators said the suspects were allegedly planning attacks on sensitive locations and offices of law enforcement agencies.
Two Suspected BLA Members Arrested
During the first operation, security personnel arrested two suspects identified as Sajid Yousaf and Shoukat Ali, also known as Shoki. The operation took place near Lasbela Chowk in Karachi. According to CTD sources, the suspects were allegedly in contact with their commander and were planning attacks on sensitive installations.
Officials further claimed that the two men were involved in targeted killings and attacks on Frontier Corps vehicles. Authorities recovered two hand grenades during the operation. Investigators are examining the suspects’ alleged links with other members of the banned organisation and their possible role in planned attacks.
Suspected TTP Member Held in Separate Operation
In a separate operation near the Old Sabzi Mandi area, the CTD and the intelligence agency arrested a suspected TTP member identified as Dad Muhammad, alias Adil.
Officials said they recovered a locally manufactured IED from his possession. According to the CTD, the suspect had allegedly received training in Afghanistan and was planning to target sensitive locations and offices of law enforcement agencies.
Authorities are investigating his suspected links with the group and examining whether other individuals helped him prepare or transport the explosive device.
Three Cases Registered Against Suspects
The CTD has registered three cases against the arrested suspects under the Explosive Substances Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify alleged facilitators, financial supporters and other individuals who may have assisted the suspects.
The department said joint operations would continue across Sindh to address security threats and prevent planned attacks. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the suspects’ next court appearances.
