A major development has emerged in the high-profile narcotics case involving alleged drug dealer Anmol, widely known as Pinky. A sessions court has granted permission to police authorities to transfer the accused from Karachi to Lahore for further investigation into an alleged cocaine trafficking network.
The decision came after Lahoreโs Kot Lakhpat Police obtained legal warrants from the sessions court. Officials are now preparing to move the accused to Lahore for interrogation connected to a narcotics case registered in January 2022.
Authorities believe the investigation could expose a larger organised drug network operating across multiple cities.
Police Expand Probe Into Alleged Cocaine Network
According to investigators, the narcotics case against Anmol Pinky was registered at Kot Lakhpat Police Station on January 6, 2022. During the initial investigation, police arrested her brother, Riaz Baloch, who allegedly informed investigators that Pinky escaped during a raid and continued managing the drug operation remotely.
District Public Prosecutor Waqar Abid Bhatti submitted official documents from the Home Department and Kot Lakhpat Police before the sessions judge. The prosecution requested permission to shift the accused to Lahore for detailed questioning.
Police officials stated that the interrogation aims to uncover financial links, operational contacts, and supply routes connected to the alleged narcotics network.
Investigators believe several individuals may have assisted the accused in maintaining illegal operations while avoiding arrest. Authorities are also examining communication records and possible connections with organised criminal groups.
The case has gained nationwide attention due to the scale of allegations and the involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies.
Court Orders Criminal Case Against Former Police Inspector
In a separate legal development, a court ordered the registration of a criminal case against former police inspector Rana Muhammad Akram, who is reported to be the alleged second husband of Anmol Pinky.
The order followed an application filed by Yasmeen Tabassum, also known as Nigar Chaudhry, under relevant criminal procedure laws. The court instructed the concerned station house officer to register a formal case and proceed according to legal requirements.
Rana Akram has been accused of conducting an unlawful raid on a residence and allegedly taking property valued at Rs5.5 million. Earlier inquiry reports from the City Police Officerโs office reportedly identified misconduct and procedural irregularities linked to the incident.
Another report submitted by the SSP Internal Accountability branch highlighted serious violations during the operation. Although a later inquiry by the Organised Crime Unit stated that allegations could not be confirmed, the complainant challenged the findings and sought a fresh review.
Following the appeal, senior police authorities ordered a new inquiry into the matter in July 2025.
The court also noted that Rana Muhammad Akram retired from service in February 2025. However, the judge observed that retirement does not eliminate criminal liability if evidence exists.
The court ruled that the complaint included clear elements of cognisable offences and stated that only a formal investigation could determine the truth of the allegations.
Karachi Court Rejects Further Physical Remand Request
Meanwhile, a Karachi court rejected a prosecution request seeking an extension of physical remand for Anmol Pinky in multiple criminal cases registered in the South District.
The investigating officer informed the court that the accused had earlier been sent to jail custody in a case linked to Garden Police Station. However, previous court orders had altered the custody arrangement during ongoing proceedings.
Police requested additional custody to continue questioning regarding alleged murder and narcotics offences. The prosecution argued that further interrogation was necessary to trace the broader drug network.
The court, however, refused the request and ordered that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand in all 11 cases under consideration.
The legal proceedings continue as investigators attempt to dismantle the alleged narcotics network and identify all individuals connected to the operation.
