ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad today ordered to block and seize PTI provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi’s passport.
The court issued the order on Wednesday over involvement of Afridi in the May 9 incidents in Islamabad.
PTI Minister Meena Khan Afridi had already been declared wanted in this case.
The court also issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the PTI leader after finding that he had deliberately remained in hiding.
Following the order, authorities began proceedings to place Meena Khan’s passport on the blacklist.
The court stated that Meena Khan is a nominated accused in FIR No. 544/24.
It further observed that he was deliberately absconding to evade arrest and avoid legal proceedings in the case.
The court directed relevant authorities to take action against the PTI leader according to the law.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad SSP Investigation wrote to the Director General of Immigration and Passports regarding the court’s directive.
The letter requested action to block and seize Meena Khan’s passport in accordance with the court order.
Authorities accused the PTI provincial minister of attempting to avoid investigation and arrest in the case.
The latest development comes as law enforcement agencies continue pursuing suspects wanted in cases related to the May 9 incidents.
The court’s order could restrict Meena Khan’s ability to travel abroad while authorities continue efforts to arrest him.
Police and relevant departments will now proceed with measures required to enforce the court’s directives.
Further legal proceedings are expected as authorities continue investigating the case and attempting to apprehend the accused.
