The Judicial Commission investigating the death of Karachi youth Mir Raza has summoned seven people for questioning as it continues to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
The commission issued summons on Wednesday to Raza’s two business partners, two friends, an online car driver and two police officials. The individuals include Muhammad Ahmad, Abdullah, Abdur Razzaq, Haseem, driver Ihsan, SDPO Sharae Faisal and SHO Ferozeabad.
Commission Examines Evidence In Death
The commission has called the individuals to appear for questioning as investigators review the circumstances surrounding Raza’s death. The summons come after a final medical and forensic report challenged the suggestion that he died by suicide.
According to the exhumation board’s findings, a bullet entered Raza’s body through his back and exited through his chest. The bullet fractured his sixth rib, damaged a lung and ruptured his heart, causing severe internal injuries.
The medical examination concluded that the gunshot wound and resulting heart rupture caused Raza’s death. Meanwhile, forensic investigators found bullet holes on both the back and front of his shirt.
Forensic Findings Raise Further Questions
The forensic report detected a higher quantity of gunshot residue around the hole on the back of the shirt. Investigators also detected gunshot residue in samples taken from both hands and the wounds.
Blood analysis additionally identified a small quantity of an anesthetic substance. However, testing found no identifiable traces of other intoxicating or poisonous substances.
The latest findings have strengthened the exhumation board’s conclusion that the available evidence does not support the suicide narrative. Consequently, the commission is expected to examine witness accounts and other evidence as it investigates how Raza died.
The questioning of the seven summoned individuals could provide further information about Raza’s final movements and the circumstances preceding his death. The commission’s investigation remains ongoing.
