Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to bring his criticism of Pakistan’s governance system before parliament. Bilawal argued that major national issues should not be settled at business forums. Instead, elected representatives should debate the country’s political and governance challenges.
Speaking in London, Bilawal said Naqvi had the right to express his views. However, he called for a parliamentary discussion if Naqvi believed the system had collapsed.
“It cannot be the case that the fate of the country is decided by a handful of businessmen,” Bilawal said.
He also criticised Naqvi’s limited presence in the National Assembly. “Mr Mohsin Naqvi does not come to the National Assembly very often, so instead of business forums, he should come to parliament.”
Bilawal Discusses New Provinces
Bilawal said the PPP had maintained its position on new provinces for years. He stressed that provincial decisions should reflect public opinion through elected representatives.
However, he rejected the idea that new provinces could solve Pakistan’s economic problems alone.
“You cannot simply say that by creating new provinces, you will solve the problems of political instability, poverty, unemployment, and the tsunami of inflation,” he said.
PPP, PML-N Cooperation Continues
Bilawal dismissed speculation that the PPP planned to end cooperation with the federal government. “At present, we are fully engaged with the federal government,” he said.
He also criticised PTI’s parliamentary boycott strategy. Bilawal said the move harmed the opposition and parliament as an institution.
Bilawal Responds to Austria Speculation
Addressing questions about his Austria visit and marriage rumours, Bilawal said, “If you create the speculation yourself and then ask me about it afterward, that is quite amusing,” said Bilawal while replying to a question.
Asked about the trip, he added, “It was very good.”
Bilawal also questioned claims about blocked roads during a recent KP chief minister visit to Sindh. He said he welcomed political activity and had not seen evidence that roads were dug up.
The PPP chairman also congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on her youngest daughter’s graduation during their separate London media interactions.
