ISLAMABAD: A Chinese national was abducted at gunpoint from the Golra area of Islamabad before later being released by the suspects, police said.
Officials said the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Golra police station, where unidentified armed men intercepted the victim and forcibly took him along with his vehicle. Police sources stated that the suspects also snatched the Chinese citizenโs Honda Civic car, wallet and mobile phone during the incident.
According to investigators, three armed men allegedly held the victim hostage at gunpoint before transporting him from the Golra area to Mawa village near Simly Dam Road in the Bara Kahu region. Authorities said the suspects later abandoned the victim near the village and fled from the scene.
Police officials added that the Chinese national informed investigators that three individuals were involved in the alleged abduction. Law enforcement agencies have since launched efforts to identify and arrest the suspects linked to the case.
Authorities confirmed that a formal case has been registered at Nilore police station, while investigators continue gathering evidence and reviewing possible leads connected to the incident. Police have also initiated inquiries into the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle and other belongings reportedly taken during the alleged kidnapping.
The incident has raised concerns regarding the security of foreign nationals working and residing in Pakistan, particularly Chinese citizens involved in business and development projects across the country. Security agencies have intensified investigations to determine the motive behind the alleged abduction and trace the individuals responsible.
Officials have not yet disclosed further details regarding the condition of the victim or whether the suspects demanded ransom before releasing him. The investigation remains ongoing.
