Once again China has rejected the United States new sanctions against Iran and its trade partners. China said that it would to protect its national interests.
Beijing said this in response to the United States expandeded sanctions targeting Iran and entities linked to its trade.
Beijing said it firmly opposes unilateral sanctions that lack international legal backing.
China Rejects US Sanctions
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks during a regular briefing on Tuesday.
He said China would take necessary measures to protect its rights and interests. Beijing also urged countries to avoid actions that could worsen tensions.
The statement came after Washington announced new penalties as part of its campaign to increase economic pressure on Tehran.
The United States has also expanded threats of secondary sanctions against countries and businesses maintaining financial ties with Iran.
Beijing Defends Iran Trade
China remains a major buyer of Iranian oil, making its economic relationship with Tehran a key focus of Washington’s sanctions strategy.
Meanwhile, China has maintained that its cooperation with Iran operates within international law and should not face outside interference.
Beijing has repeatedly opposed unilateral sanctions and called for diplomatic efforts to resolve the broader conflict.
The latest warning could further strain US-China relations as Washington intensifies economic pressure on Iran and its trading partners.
