Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has reviewed the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a visit to Peshawar Corps Headquarters.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Munir was briefed on counter-terrorism operations, border management and operational preparedness across the province.
Munir Reviews KP Security Situation
During the visit, the Peshawar Corps commander received Field Marshal Munir at the headquarters.
Officials briefed him on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The briefing also covered border management measures and the readiness of formations deployed in KP.
Munir praised the morale, readiness and professionalism of officers and troops.
He also directed formations to remain vigilant and maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness.
According to ISPR, Munir said the armed forces remained determined to defeat terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability across Pakistan.
Field Marshal Pays Tribute to Martyrs
During his visit, Munir laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha.
He paid tribute to those who lost their lives defending the country and fighting terrorism. He said their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
The visit comes amid renewed security concerns in KP following a deadly attack at the old Police Lines in Kohat.
The attack and subsequent clearance operation left 23 people dead, including police personnel and civilians. Security forces later killed all eight attackers during the operation.
Security Operations Intensify
Pakistan’s security forces have also carried out recent operations in KP and along the Afghanistan border.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said security forces killed nine militants during ground operations in Kohat and Hangu. It separately reported that airstrikes in the border region killed 28 militants.
The government said the strikes targeted militant hideouts linked to recent attacks in KP.
The latest operations come amid continuing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border militancy. Pakistan has repeatedly called for action against militant groups operating from Afghan territory.
Against this backdrop, Munir’s Peshawar visit focused on operational readiness, border security and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the province.
