The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken possession of five commercial plazas in Islamabad’s Mouza Malpur as part of a campaign to recover government land allegedly occupied illegally. The operation took place along Murree Road on Friday evening, with the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration and Islamabad Police supporting enforcement teams.
Authorities are targeting approximately 108 kanals of state land that officials say has remained under unauthorised occupation for nearly two decades. A survey identified two fuel stations, nine commercial plazas, 25 houses and two warehouses on the disputed land.
Investigation Reveals Suspected Land Document Irregularities
The operation followed directions from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who instructed Islamabad’s chief commissioner and CDA chairman Sohail Ashraf to enforce anti-encroachment laws uniformly.
During the investigation, revenue officials identified suspected discrepancies in ownership documents used to justify possession of properties in Malpur. According to officials, some individuals presented records linked to different land parcels in neighbouring Mouza Kot Hathial.
Furthermore, a document verification camp revealed that certain sale deeds described land located approximately 1.5 kilometres away from the properties actually occupied. Authorities are preparing legal proceedings, including the registration of first information reports against individuals allegedly involved in fraudulent land transactions.
Authorities Promise Further Action Against Encroachments
Officials reported that one disputed commercial plaza had reportedly been sold for Rs5 crore just five months earlier. The case has highlighted concerns about property transactions involving government land and the verification of ownership records.
CDA Deputy Director General Enforcement Dr Anum Fatima said authorities would take action against unlawful occupants without discrimination. She added that the authority would challenge court-issued stay orders through the appropriate legal process while respecting judicial directions.
Meanwhile, the administration confirmed that the recovery campaign would continue based on verified revenue records and legal procedures. Officials aim to reclaim public land and prevent further unauthorised occupation across Islamabad.
The latest operation forms part of broader efforts to protect government property and ensure consistent enforcement of land regulations throughout the federal capital.
