ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a crackdown on illegal housing societies in Islamabad, issuing notices to 126 housing schemes and sealing the offices of nine projects.
According to 24NewsHD, the operation was initiated on the directions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of efforts to address unauthorised housing developments in the federal capital.
The CDA issued notices to several housing schemes, including Ghori Town, Rawal Enclave, Razzaq Town, Sadat Town and Madina Enclave. The authority also sealed the offices of nine schemes, including Greenfield, Islamabad Farms, Capital Hills and Kiani Town.
The action follows the interior minister’s earlier statement that 150 illegal housing societies were operating in Islamabad. He had also indicated that legal cases could be registered against individuals involved in supporting or facilitating these schemes.
The crackdown aims to address concerns surrounding unauthorised development and protect prospective property buyers from potential financial losses. Housing projects operating without the necessary approvals can expose investors to legal disputes and uncertainty over land ownership and development rights.
The CDA has been taking enforcement measures against housing schemes accused of operating without approved layout plans and the required no-objection certificates. The authority has also published notices concerning specific schemes on its official website.
Prospective buyers are advised to verify a housing society’s approval status directly with the CDA before purchasing plots or investing their savings.
The latest operation highlights the authority’s efforts to regulate Islamabad’s housing sector and enforce planning regulations. Further enforcement action may follow as authorities examine the status of housing schemes operating across the capital.
