Three suspects linked to an attack on a Punjab political figure were killed during a raid in Rajana town, Toba Tek Singh district.
The operation was carried out by the Crime Control Department (CCD), which reported armed resistance during the raid.
Authorities stated that two additional suspects were arrested during the same operation.
Exchange of Fire During Arrest Operation
A spokesperson for the CCD confirmed that the team launched the raid to apprehend individuals involved in a previous attack case.
As officers approached the suspected location, the suspects allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on the CCD personnel.
In response, a retaliatory exchange of fire took place, resulting in the death of three suspects on the spot.
The spokesperson added that the operation was conducted based on actionable intelligence regarding the suspectsโ presence in the area.

According to the CCD statement, the suspects were involved in an attack on former provincial minister and PML-N MPA Ayub Gadhi.
The earlier incident reportedly took place last month at his residence, where armed assailants opened fire.
During that attack, Ayub Gadhi sustained injuries, while four of his companions were killed in the firing.
The latest raid was part of ongoing efforts to track down individuals involved in that incident.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Alongside the fatalities, CCD teams arrested two suspects during the operation.
Authorities have not yet released detailed identities of those detained or killed, pending further investigation.
