ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has announced a major hike in vehicle transfer fees, effective April 14, covering all categories of vehicles—including electric vehicles and motorcycles.
Under the new fee structure, the cost to transfer ownership of vehicles up to 1000cc has increased from Rs1,200 to Rs2,750. For vehicles between 1000cc and 1800cc, the fee has more than doubled from Rs2,000 to Rs5,500. Transfers of vehicles above 1800cc will now cost Rs11,000, up from the previous Rs3,000.
For the first time, electric vehicles (EVs) will also be subject to transfer charges. EVs with a battery capacity up to 50kW will be charged Rs2,500. Those between 50kW and 100kW will incur a fee of Rs5,500, while EVs exceeding 100kW will face a transfer fee of Rs10,000.
Motorcycle transfer fees have also been revised. Bikes up to 200cc will now require Rs550, a significant increase from the earlier Rs150. For motorcycles between 200cc and 400cc, the fee is set at Rs1,000, and for those above 400cc, the new charge is Rs1,500.
All transfer fees are to be deposited into the designated Ministry of Finance account.
