International travelers can now enjoy lower business class airfares after the government reduced taxes on premium international tickets.
The fare reduction became effective on July 1, 2026. Consequently, passengers traveling to several international destinations can now save thousands of rupees on business class tickets.
The reduction follows changes introduced through the Finance Bill 2026-27, which lowered the Federal Excise Duty (FED) on international business class travel.
Passengers Traveling to the Americas Get the Biggest Relief
Travelers flying to the United States, Canada, and South America will receive the largest reduction in business class fares.
According to the revised rates, passengers can now save Rs50,000 on business class tickets to these destinations.
The lower fares are a direct result of the reduced Federal Excise Duty.
Europe, UK, Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong Also See Lower Fares
Business class passengers traveling to several other international destinations will also benefit from reduced ticket prices.
Travelers flying to the following destinations can now save Rs40,000:
- Europe
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Japan
- Russia
- Hong Kong
As a result, premium international travel has become more affordable for many passengers.
Middle East Travelers Receive Additional Savings
Passengers traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other regional destinations will also pay lower business class fares.
Under the revised structure, eligible travelers can receive a Rs25,000 reduction on business class tickets.
Therefore, passengers flying to nearby international destinations will also benefit from the government’s latest tax relief.
Tax Reduction Took Effect From July 1
The reduced airfares became effective on July 1, 2026.
The changes followed the federal government’s proposal announced on June 13, 2026, through the Finance Bill 2026-27.
The proposal focused on lowering the Federal Excise Duty on international business class travel.
New Federal Excise Duty Rates
The revised Federal Excise Duty has significantly lowered taxes across multiple international routes. For travel to North, Central, and South America, the duty has been reduced to Rs50,000 from Rs350,000.
Meanwhile, passengers traveling to the Middle East and Africa will now pay Rs25,000, compared with the previous Rs105,000.
Similarly, the Federal Excise Duty on business class tickets to Europe has been reduced to Rs40,000, down from Rs210,000.
The same Rs40,000 duty now applies to travel to the Far East and Australia, replacing the previous Rs210,000 rate.
Lower Taxes Translate Into Cheaper Business Class Travel
The reduction in Federal Excise Duty has directly lowered business class airfares across several international routes.
Consequently, travelers can now enjoy substantial savings when booking premium international flights.
With the revised tax structure already in effect, passengers planning overseas travel may find business class tickets more affordable than before, particularly on long-haul international routes.
