PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has rejected the results of the Mirpur general elections, accusing the PML-N of electoral manipulation. He said the PPP would continue its struggle to recover seats where its candidates claimed victory.
Bilawal challenges AJK election process
Addressing party workers in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, Bilawal alleged that the PPP competed against a party that had relied on rigging from the beginning. He said his party would not accept the results of 30 constituencies.
Moreover, the PPP chairman claimed he had evidence from these constituencies. He vowed to pursue all available legal and political options to reclaim seats won by PPP candidates.
Bilawal also challenged the AJK Election Commission to investigate the allegations. He said the commission should conduct a transparent inquiry if it had nothing to conceal.
Meanwhile, he expressed confidence that the people of Muzaffarabad would reject any attempt to influence the elections scheduled for August 2.
PPP calls for reforms in AJK
Bilawal said the PPP had never gained power without political struggle. He criticized PML-N leaders, claiming they secured positions through disputed Form-47 results.
Furthermore, he reiterated that his party would not accept the election results. He said the PPP wanted to ensure that people of AJK received their constitutional rights.
The PPP chairman called for reforms to address public concerns and improve communication between AJK residents and the federal government. He added that people from Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, and Mirpur should decide their own affairs.
Separately, Bilawal criticized PTI’s decision to boycott the polls. He said political parties could not achieve their rights by staying away from elections.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf urged the AJK chief justice to take notice of alleged election irregularities in Mirpur. He claimed that the reported rigging was unprecedented and called for accountability.
