QUETTA: Balochistan government officials took a stunning decision today and decided to prevent the sale and purchase of government jobs. The officials of the provincial government took the decision following strict orders from Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
Addressing a meeting of the Secretaries Committee, Bugti warned that no government job would be sold in the province.
He said ministers and secretaries would face removal if credible evidence confirmed job-selling in any department.
Moreover, the chief minister ordered a high-level inquiry into alleged recruitment irregularities in the Forest Department.
He said impartial investigations would identify those responsible, adding that no official found guilty would escape punishment.
Bugti demands strict merit
In a statement on X, Bugti said he had clearly opposed the sale of government jobs since the beginning of his administration.
He added that the provincial cabinet and chief secretary shared the same position on the issue.
The chief minister directed secretaries to closely monitor subordinate officials and recruitment committees to prevent corruption and ensure merit.
He also ordered officials to strictly implement his directives and protect the rights of Balochistan’s young people.
No compromise on youth rights
Bugti said his government would resist pressure aimed at undermining merit-based recruitment. He stressed that establishing meritocracy remained essential to rebuilding young people’s trust in the state.
Furthermore, he warned officials that there would be no room for negligence or errors in implementing the government’s policy.
The chief minister also made it clear that authorities would not forgive those involved in selling government positions. He directed officials to ensure transparent recruitment and take firm action against anyone violating the government’s orders.
