KARACHI: The mother of two-and-a-half-year-old Azaan has rejected social media claims that her son’s alleged kidnapping was a planned incident. She said no mother would ever put her child through such a painful experience.
Azaan, who was allegedly taken from New Nazimabad in Karachi, returned safely after authorities recovered him from Gharo, Sindh. The child remained missing for three days before his recovery.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Azaan’s mother became emotional while responding to criticism online. Some social media users questioned the circumstances of the incident and claimed it was staged.
Mother Responds to Social Media Criticism
Addressing the allegations, she said, “You all have women in your families. Do you treat them with the same disrespect?”
She added, “A mother would sacrifice her own life, but she would never hand over her child.”
She described the period of her son’s disappearance as the hardest moment of her life. According to her, she felt completely devastated when Azaan went missing.
The mother also questioned the responsibility of the private housing society where the incident happened. She asked why the management and security staff were not facing questions over the alleged security failure.
Mother Raises Concerns Over CCTV Footage
Azaan’s mother also addressed criticism related to CCTV footage showing her using a mobile phone before the incident.
She claimed that the footage circulating online did not show the complete situation. According to her, the video was shortened and only showed part of the incident.
She said the society shared a limited clip that showed her using her phone but removed the following moments.
She stated, “They intentionally released the short clip in which I was using my phone, but cut out the next 10 minutes of footage where my child is sitting with me, eating and talking. They should show that footage as well.”
She alleged that the housing society wanted to shift attention away from security concerns by focusing criticism on her actions.
Family Questions Security Arrangements
Azaan’s father also expressed concerns about the security situation. He questioned how someone could allegedly take a young child from Karachi to Gharo without facing any interruption.
According to Azaan’s mother, the entire incident happened within minutes. She said her son remained out of her sight for around five minutes.
She added that the alleged kidnapper left the housing society within eight minutes. Meanwhile, the family searched different blocks, houses, and nearby areas without knowing that the child had already been taken.
The case has continued to attract public attention as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding Azaan’s disappearance and recovery. The family continues to seek answers regarding security measures and responsibility for the incident.
