An Australian man died by suicide in Bali after allegedly killing his two young children, according to local police. The incident occurred over the weekend at a bungalow on Indonesia’s popular resort island. Police launched an investigation after discovering the bodies.
Denpasar police chief Leonardo David Simatupang said investigators reviewed CCTV footage and statements from the family.
“Based on the analysis of available CCTV footage and the statement from the victim’s wife, it is suspected that the husband murdered his two children and then took his own life,” Leonardo told reporters.
Wife Was Away in Jakarta
Police said the man’s Indonesian wife was in Jakarta when the incident occurred.
She had travelled to the capital to visit her parents, according to the police chief. Authorities are examining the available evidence as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The incident took place at a bungalow in Bali, a major international tourism destination known for attracting visitors from around the world.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities have reviewed surveillance footage and information provided by the children’s mother as part of their inquiry.
