ISLAMABAD: An attacker fired upon and hurled a hand grenade at a law enforcers’ checkpost in the Spin Qabar area of Bara, according to a statement by the police.
In response, the police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel retaliated, but the attacker managed to escape. Fortunately, there were no casualties reporting from the attack.
This incident adds to the escalating wave of terror gripping Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In the month of July alone, the province has witnessed multiple militant attacks. According to officials, at least four terror attacks within 48 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including a foiled attempt in the capital city of Peshawar.
A recent attack on July 20 resulted in the martyrdom of a policeman and injuries to 10 others after a terrorist blew himself up. While was intercepted by the police as he tried to enter the tehsil compound housing the Bara Police Station. Government offices, and a cell of the counter-terrorism Department (CTD).
The rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan has been attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP). And other extremist groups gaining safe havens and freedom of action in neighboring Afghanistan.
The Pakistan Army has warned Afghanistan against providing sanctuary to the banned TTP and other terrorist organizations targeting security forces.

As a consequence of the increased militancy, Pakistan has experienced a surge in terror activities. Prompting calls for decisive action against terrorists responsible for cross-border attacks.
A statistical report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed a 79% rise in terror activities during the first half of 2023.
However, The interim Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Feroz Jamal. Expresses confidence in the police’s capability to address the rising terrorist activities. But also emphasized the importance of actions taken by the Afghan government to counter militancy. He believes that peace in Afghanistan will contribute to stability in Pakistan and urges decisive measures against cross-border terrorism.
