Security forces arrest an important leader of Fitna al-Khwarij. They uncover fresh evidence of deep ties between the Afghan Taliban and the banned group. The suspect, Amir Sohail alias Maulvi Haider, makes startling confessions during interrogation. These confirm Pakistanโs long-standing concerns about cross-border terrorism.
Terrorist Confesses Training and Foreign Support
Maulvi Haider admits he joined Fitna al-Khwarij after falling for misleading propaganda against Pakistan. He reveals that he received full terrorist training at a Fitna al-Khwarij centre in Afghanistanโs Paktika province. Moreover, he states that these centres operate with complete backing from the Afghan Taliban. He also discloses close links with ISIS and Al-Qaeda inside Afghanistan. He mentions financial support from Afghan sources and foreign agencies, including Indiaโs RAW. In addition, more than 20 foreign terrorists, including Afghan citizens, serve in his formation.
Maulvi Haider took part in deadly attacks on security forces in Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Mianwali. Law enforcement agencies nab him while he travels to Peshawar for medical treatment.
Revelations Confirm Pakistanโs Position on Afghan Safe Havens
The captured commander has been reported to openly state that “Fitna al-Khwarij” is not in any way linked to either Islam or the concept of jihad. Instead, it is engaged in acts of terror solely for financial gain. Foreign experts have already started identifying these admissions as conclusive evidence of how Afghanistan has become a sanctuary for terrorists due to the Taliban government. Consequently, it is believed that this confession will make it possible to prove the existence of the link responsible for spreading terrorism within Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the security forces are still taking action against such organizations while the Islamabad government is urging the Kabul administration to do something about these sanctuaries.
