Apple has officially introduced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, marking a major change in the company’s approach to laptop design. The new models combine touch controls with powerful processors and an advanced OLED display.
Announced on October 28, the redesigned MacBook Pro comes in 14-inch and 16-inch versions. Apple has also introduced several upgrades aimed at professionals, including designers, video editors and developers.
Touchscreen Arrives on MacBook Pro
The new MacBook Pro allows users to interact directly with content on the display. They can swipe through webpages, zoom into photographs, move presentation slides and arrange windows using touch gestures.
Furthermore, the touchscreen supports creative tasks. Designers can draw directly on the screen, while musicians can play software instruments using on-screen controls.
Apple has also redesigned the hinge to provide greater stability when users touch the display. The company says the integrated touch sensor helps reduce response delays.
OLED Display and Powerful Chips
The laptop features Apple’s new PROLED XDR display, which uses tandem OLED technology. It offers up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a 120Hz variable refresh rate and a claimed contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1.
Both models use Apple’s M5 Pro or M5 Max processors. Customers can configure the laptops with up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage.
Additionally, the new models feature a Dynamic Island-style interface, an improved six-speaker sound system and up to 24 hours of battery life.
MacBook Pro Price and Availability
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip starts at $2,899 in the United States. Meanwhile, the 16-inch version starts at $3,399.
Customers can preorder the new touchscreen models, with availability beginning November 6, 2026.
The launch introduces a new way to use Mac computers while retaining the keyboard and trackpad. However, the premium starting price places the touchscreen models firmly in Apple’s high-end laptop category.
