The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity tariff by Rs0.52 per unit. The latest electricity tariff hike comes under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the 52-paisa increase will add Rs12.67 billion to consumers’ electricity bills nationwide.
Consumers will pay the additional charges through their electricity bills for September, October and November.
NEPRA Announces 52-Paisa Per Unit Increase
The latest adjustment means electricity consumers will face higher bills over the next three months. However, the increase will not apply to lifeline consumers, according to NEPRA.
Meanwhile, K-Electric consumers will also be affected by the 52-paisa per-unit increase.
Therefore, the latest adjustment will apply to consumers across the country, apart from those covered under the lifeline category.
Higher Electricity Costs Add to Consumer Burden
The latest increase comes shortly after another electricity tariff adjustment in August. Electricity tariffs across the country were increased by Rs0.75 per unit in August.
That increase came under the monthly adjustment mechanism for June 2026. The Rs0.75 per-unit increase also applied to K-Electric consumers.
Consumers saw the impact of that adjustment in their August electricity bills. With the latest quarterly adjustment, electricity users will now face another increase in their bills.
The new 52-paisa charge will remain applicable for September, October and November.
As a result, consumers will carry an additional Rs12.67 billion burden during the three-month period.
