Anmol, also known as Pinky, has secured acquittal in two additional narcotics cases in Karachi after a local court found insufficient evidence against her.
The additional district and sessions judge (South) announced the decision on Friday after hearing arguments from both sides. Pinky appeared before the court through a video link during proceedings.
The cases involved narcotics charges registered with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in 2018 and at the Gizri police station. Following the latest decisions, courts have acquitted Pinky in five of the 22 cases registered against her at different police stations.
The judge also directed authorities to release her from the women’s jail if no other case required her continued detention.
Five Acquittals in 22 Registered Cases
The latest ruling follows an earlier court decision in August, when Pinky secured acquittal in three narcotics cases registered at the Gizri police station.
Those decisions, combined with Friday’s ruling, bring her total acquittals to five cases. However, 17 of the 22 registered cases remain outside these reported acquittals.
The latest court decision concerns only the two cases heard during Friday’s proceedings. Her acquittal in those matters does not automatically resolve the remaining cases.
Arrest Followed Raid in Karachi Apartment
Pinky reportedly faced arrest on May 12 during a joint raid by police and a civilian intelligence agency at her apartment in Karachi’s Garden area.
Authorities accused her of operating a “network of drug supply” across the city. However, Pinky denied the allegation and claimed officials had detained her in Lahore 15 days before transferring her to Karachi.
At the time of her arrest, authorities said they recovered a weapon, cocaine and other drugs worth approximately Rs1.5 million.
Investigators told a court on May 13 that the operation had yielded 1,540 grams of cocaine and 6,970 grams of raw material.
These details formed part of the allegations surrounding her arrest. The latest acquittals, meanwhile, relate to specific narcotics cases in which the court found insufficient evidence.
Viral Court Appearance Sparked Public Criticism
Pinky’s case attracted wider public attention after a video of her court appearance circulated on social media.
The footage showed police officials escorting her through court premises without handcuffs. The manner of her escort prompted criticism online, with users questioning the apparent difference in treatment.
The controversy added a public dimension to a case already involving serious drug-related allegations. However, the latest court rulings focus on the evidence presented in the two cases.
What Happens After the Latest Acquittals?
The court has ordered Pinky’s release from the women’s jail if authorities do not require her custody in another case.
Her release therefore depends on whether any other legal matter prevents it. The latest decision clears her in two additional narcotics cases but does not amount to acquittal in all cases registered against her.
With five acquittals recorded out of 22 cases, the remaining proceedings will determine the legal outcome of the other allegations.
