The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 3,825 kilograms of narcotics during a major operation in Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV.
The operation was conducted at a suspected drug storage facility in the Jusak area. According to the ANF, the compound was being used as a temporary cache for narcotics before their planned shipment abroad.
Hashish, Methamphetamine and Heroin Recovered
The seized drugs included 2,454 kilograms of hashish, 1,363 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice, and eight kilograms of heroin.
The total value of the recovered narcotics has been estimated at more than Rs560 million.
According to preliminary findings, the drugs were allegedly brought into Pakistan from Afghanistan. Investigators believe the narcotics were being stored at the compound before being moved for international smuggling.
The ANF said the traffickers allegedly planned to transport the drugs abroad through a sea route. The shipment was reportedly intended to move once the network received a signal confirming safe passage.
International Drug Network Under Investigation
The latest seizure has highlighted the suspected regional links of drug trafficking networks operating across borders.
Authorities are now investigating the people involved in the storage and planned transportation of the narcotics. Further investigation is also expected to determine the network’s international connections.
The ANF said its efforts have previously helped intercept similar shipments outside Pakistan.
About a month ago, information provided by the ANF led to the seizure of 463 kilograms of Ice at the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The drugs were recovered from a container, while an Afghan national described as the alleged ringleader of the trafficking network was arrested.
The ANF said the latest operation reflects growing evidence of regional and international links involving Afghan drug trafficking networks.
