The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two agents accused of defrauding a citizen of Rs1.5 million through a fake overseas employment offer.
The suspects allegedly promised to arrange an Albanian work visa in exchange for the money. FIA Islamabad Zone carried out the arrests as part of its ongoing action against visa fraud and human trafficking.
Two Suspects Arrested in Rawalpindi
According to an FIA official, the agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi conducted the operation on Wednesday.
Authorities identified the arrested suspects as Ghulam Dastgir and Shahid Hussain. Both were nominated in FIR No. 647/2026.
Investigators allege that the suspects collected Rs1.5 million from the complainant after promising to send him abroad for employment in Albania.
FIA Continues Visa Fraud Investigation
The FIA has launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the alleged scam. Officials are also examining whether other individuals participated in the scheme.
Inspector Zainab Batool is investigating the case, according to the agency official.
The FIA Islamabad Zone has reiterated its commitment to taking action against people involved in human trafficking, illegal recruitment and visa fraud.
Citizens Advised to Verify Overseas Job Offers
The case highlights the risks faced by people seeking employment opportunities abroad. Fraudulent agents often exploit job seekers by promising foreign work permits in exchange for large payments.
Applicants should verify recruitment agencies and their licences before paying fees or handing over personal documents.
The FIA investigation will determine the suspects’ alleged involvement and whether additional people were connected to the case.
