Unofficial results have started emerging after voting ended in four constituencies of Bagh and Haveli districts during the third phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections.
Polling began at 8am and continued until 5pm. Authorities maintained security across the constituencies throughout the voting process.
Early figures showed candidates from the PPP, PML-N and Awami Dast-o-Bazu leading in different constituencies. However, election officials stressed that the figures remained unofficial.
Early Results Show Close Contests
In LA-14 Bagh-1, Awami Dast-o-Bazu candidate Sajid Iqbal secured 40,309 votes. Muslim Conference’s Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan finished second with 19,234 votes.
In LA-15 Bagh-2, PPP’s Sardar Zia Al-Qamar led with 16,640 votes. PML-N candidate Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas followed with 14,772 votes.
In LA-16 Bagh-3, PPP’s Sardar Qamar Zaman Khan held the lead with 12,516 votes. PML-N’s Sardar Mir Akbar Khan followed closely with 11,613 votes.
Meanwhile, PPP’s Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore led LA-17 Bagh-4 with 29,431 votes. PML-N’s Chaudhry Mohsin Aziz had 27,319 votes.
The AJK Election Commission will announce final results after completing counting and consolidation.
PPP Raises Polling Concerns
The PPP submitted complaints about alleged disruptions at more than 22 polling stations. The party also alleged that its polling agents faced removal and polling delays.
PPP leaders demanded investigations into the allegations. The party also called for Rangers deployment at several stations over security concerns.
However, PML-N leaders rejected the rigging allegations. Rana Sanaullah said the PPP was attempting to hide its defeat through such claims.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said polling remained peaceful overall. He also urged voters to use their ballots to bring positive change.
The third phase has added another layer of political competition to the AJK elections. With final results still pending, the outcome could further shape the political balance across the region.
