Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the recent Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections and raised concerns over the electoral process. The partyโs Core Committee and Political Committee discussed the political situation and election developments during a joint meeting.
The committees described the elections as a setback for democratic values and electoral transparency. They also expressed concern over clashes during public demonstrations and demanded an impartial investigation into the incidents.
PTI offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the unrest. The party also prayed for the recovery of injured individuals and called for action against those responsible.
PTI Criticizes Political Parties Over AJK Situation
The committees criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over their political activities during the AJK elections. PTI alleged that both parties focused on power-sharing instead of addressing public concerns.
The party claimed that low voter turnout reflected public dissatisfaction with the electoral process. PTI also said its decision to boycott the elections received public support.
Furthermore, the committees rejected political statements regarding Kashmir. They stated that the Kashmir issue should not become part of election campaigns or political interests.
PTI Reviews Future Political Strategy
During the meeting, PTI leaders reviewed preparations for a public gathering in Peshawar scheduled for August 5. The committees decided to develop a broader political strategy with allied parties.
The party said it would announce a detailed action plan after consultations. The plan aims to highlight demands related to constitutional rights, rule of law, and democracy.
Party Raises Concerns Over Imran Khanโs Rights
The PTI committees also expressed concerns about the continued restrictions on party founder Imran Khan. They claimed he has faced difficulties accessing his family, legal team, and party leaders.
The party further raised concerns about delays in medical examinations and treatment. PTI demanded immediate access to legal, constitutional, and human rights for Imran Khan.
The party maintained that protecting democratic institutions and ensuring legal rights remain central to its political agenda.
