Pakistani singer Aima Baig revealed that her debut album, Guriya, honors the memory of her late mother. She described the project as a deeply personal journey of grief, healing, and self-discovery.
In a recent interview, Aima said the album marks a new chapter after her mother’s death in 2017. She explained that the project helped her process years of emotional pain.
Aima shared that her mother was affectionately called “Guriya.” Therefore, she chose the same name for her debut album.
Singer Reflects On Grief And Creative Journey
Aima said grief has changed as she has grown older. She added that she misses her mother every day despite her professional success.
The singer said she would trade every achievement to have her mother back. Furthermore, she described creating the album as emotionally exhausting yet deeply meaningful.
According to Aima, the recording process involved revisiting old memories and her mother’s belongings. She also revealed that Atif Aslam, Asim Azhar, Qasim Hasan, Raheel, and Mubashir contributed to the project.
Aima Addresses Public Scrutiny And Viral Controversy
Aima said spending time in London helped her recover from stress, depression, and writer’s block. She explained that the break allowed her to focus on music without constant public pressure.
The singer also addressed a leaked video involving Bilal Saeed. She clarified that the footage was recorded during the filming of a project.
Although the controversy attracted criticism, Aima said it unexpectedly promoted an unreleased song. She also rejected claims that the incident reflected poorly on Pakistan.
The 31-year-old said she now wants recognition for her music instead of public controversies. However, she has not yet announced the release date for Guriya.
