Punjab Security Agencies Track Over 6,000 Afghan Women; mostly residing illegally in Rawalpindi and Gujranwala

The age breakdown of Afghan women in Punjab shows 1,915 are under 18, 2,987 are between the ages of 18 and 35, 921 are aged 35 to 50, and 485 are over 50.

ISLAMABAD: Security agencies in Punjab have compiled a comprehensive record of Afghan women living across the province, detailing their locations, ages, and legal statuses.

According to the collected data, out of 6,308 Afghan women, 1,828 are residing without valid documentation. The highest numbers of undocumented individuals were found in Rawalpindi, where 720 women lack legal papers, followed by Lahore, which hosts 419 undocumented residents.

Gujranwala recorded the largest number of documented Afghan women, with 3,398 holding Afghan Citizen Cards. Lahore reported 296 women with valid documentation.

The age breakdown of Afghan women in Punjab shows 1,915 are under 18, 2,987 are between the ages of 18 and 35, 921 are aged 35 to 50, and 485 are over 50.

These figures have raised concerns among authorities regarding the presence of undocumented Afghan nationals.

Officials are being urged to take appropriate measures to ensure both the security of the province and the welfare of all residents, documented or not.
