LAHORE: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Hudiara village in Lahore has leveled serious accusations against officials from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), alleging their complicity with drug dealers operating in Punjab.
SHO Muhammad Khalid Khan’s allegations paint a troubling picture of collusion between law enforcement and criminal elements. In a video message, Khan voiced his concerns, claiming that CIA officials, instead of assisting in the crackdown on drug trafficking, were releasing apprehended drug dealers prematurely, undermining the efforts to curb the illicit drug trade in the region.
The SHO lamented that not only were CIA officials hindering his duties but they were also actively impeding law enforcement efforts against drug peddlers. Khan stated that upon confronting CIA officials about their alleged misconduct, they retaliated by filing a false report against him, exacerbating the already tense situation.
Khan’s appeal to higher authorities underscores the urgency of addressing the issue and holding accountable those responsible for jeopardizing law and order. He called for swift and decisive action against the implicated CIA officials to restore public trust in law enforcement agencies.
This incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of police conduct, as earlier in the day, two constables were arrested for impersonating senior officers to issue fraudulent promotion orders. The constables, Shahzad and Parvez, exploited their positions and an official phone number to deceive a senior officer, promising expedited promotions to their colleagues.
However, their ruse was uncovered when the senior officer sought verification from the IG office, exposing the elaborate fraud. The subsequent charges of impersonation and fraud against the constables underscore the gravity of their actions and the imperative of maintaining integrity within law enforcement ranks.
These developments highlight the challenges faced in combating corruption and malfeasance within law enforcement agencies and underscore the importance of robust oversight mechanisms to uphold the rule of law and ensure accountability at all levels.
