Pakistan Railways Reclaims Millions Worth of Land in Anti-Encroachment Drive

Pakistan Railways made significant progress in reclaiming valuable land from illegal occupants during an anti-encroachment operation at Gilani Station. This operation reflects the proactive stance of authorities in addressing encroachments on railway property, with a particular focus on Gilani Station where shops constructed without proper authorization were demolished.

The reclaimed land, estimated to be worth millions of rupees, underscores the commitment of Pakistan Railways to safeguard its assets and utilize them effectively for railway operations. The removal of these illegal structures not only restores the rightful ownership of the land but also serves as a deterrent against future encroachments, contributing to the overall maintenance and development of railway infrastructure.

The spokesperson for Pakistan Railways emphasized that the shops demolished during the operation were built unlawfully on railway land, highlighting the importance of adhering to legal procedures when utilizing public property. The estimated market value of the reclaimed land, amounting to seven crore rupees, signifies the substantial economic impact of this initiative.

In a broader context, the anti-encroachment efforts by Pakistan Railways align with ongoing initiatives aimed at revitalizing railway infrastructure and services across the country. Encroachments along railway tracks pose operational challenges and safety hazards, necessitating proactive measures to ensure unobstructed pathways for train operations.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court’s directive in 2020 regarding the revival of the Karachi Circular Railways underscores the judiciary’s recognition of the importance of addressing encroachments to facilitate the efficient operation of railways. The court’s instructions to clear encroachments along the railway track demonstrate a concerted effort to uphold the rule of law and enhance the functionality of Pakistan’s railway network for the benefit of citizens and the economy.
