Attack
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan asserted on Saturday that his family had been attacked while he was present at the Supreme Court. The incident unfolded during the hearing of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) plea challenging the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) verdict favoring PTI in the bat symbol and intra-party polls case.
Upon receiving the update, Barrister Gohar Khan promptly left the Supreme Court premises. In a conversation with PTI colleague Barrister Ali Zafar, he revealed that his sons and nephews had been physically assaulted, and his family’s possessions, including a computer, were taken during the attack.
“Some people reached his home and beat up his family members,” pointed out Barrister Ali Zafar, the PTI lawyer. The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Isa expressed his disapproval, stating, “Whatever happened should not have happened.” He summoned the additional attorney general to the rostrum to address the matter.
In response, the additional attorney general assured that he would investigate the incident and left the courtroom. The reported attack on Barrister Gohar Khan’s family stirred concerns about security and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As the PTI chairman left the Supreme Court premises following the distressing news, the situation added a layer of tension to the already significant legal proceedings involving the Election Commission of Pakistan’s appeal and the internal matters of the PTI.
The incident further underscores the importance of addressing security issues and ensuring the safety of individuals associated with political figures during legal proceedings and public engagements.
