PTI Worker Injured in Clash with Police in KP’s Dir

In an incident in the Chukiatan area of Upper Dir district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a worker of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sustained bullet injuries during an alleged clash with the police on Saturday.

The PTI supporters were en route to participate in a workers’ convention in Sahibabad when the clash occurred. The district administration had imposed Section 144, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people, and blocked roads leading to the convention site.

Sources reported that the confrontation unfolded when the police attempted to halt a procession of PTI workers in Chukiatan, leading to stone-throwing by the workers at the police. In the ensuing clash, police personnel were reportedly injured. Police responded with aerial firing, resulting in injuries to a PTI worker identified as Shah Alam, who was subsequently taken to the hospital.

According to police statements, one official was injured due to stone-pelting by PTI workers and was transported to Dir hospital for treatment.

Omar Ayub Khan, a member of PTI, claimed on social media that the police resorted to firing on PTI workers who were there to participate in the party gathering. He questioned the Election Commission of Pakistan’s involvement in ensuring fair elections in light of the incident.
