Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti stated on Monday that Prime Minister Imran Khan is regarded as the ‘blue-eyed’ boy of the courts and is receiving extraordinary facilities in jail.
In an interview with Independent Urdu, Bugti expressed his belief that many cases against Nawaz Sharif were baseless, emphasizing the unusual nature of a prime minister being disqualified over his son’s salary.
Bugti acknowledged the urgent need for reforms in the Pakistani judicial system. Despite asserting that Nawaz Sharif is not receiving any special treatment from the caretaker government, he emphasized that, in the eyes of the interim setup, Bilawal Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif are considered equivalent.
Bugti claimed that Imran Khan is the court’s real favorite, and the facilities provided to him in jail surpass common expectations. He emphasized the caretaker government’s commitment to fully implementing court orders regarding Khan.
Regarding the issue of missing persons and the involvement of RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), Bugti noted that the matter has become a tool for propaganda. However, he expressed his view that it was inappropriate for the high court to summon the prime minister in this case.
On the topic of refugees, Bugti mentioned that over 300,000 refugees had returned to Afghanistan, and the repatriation process would be completed within a month. He stated that 99% of those who had returned were Afghans, and those who had entered houses unlawfully could not be considered guests.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court is set to hear Imran Khan’s appeal in the Toshakhana case on Friday.
Imran Khan’s legal team filed a petition requesting an urgent hearing, and the IHC subsequently scheduled it with objections. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will preside over the case.
The former prime minister stated that he had requested the court to withdraw his appeal filed in 2022, but the matter remains pending.
Although the decision in the case was reserved on September 13, more than two months and 10 days have passed without an announcement, according to the petition.
