Road to Mecca Found: Pre-Islamic Route Found From Kufa, Iraq

Saudi archaeologists have unearthed a 1,600-kilometer route from the Iraqi city of Kufa to Mecca, which was a common trade route in pre-Islamic times and used for preaching Islam. Kufa was also second Islamic capital city after holy city of Madina Monawarah.

According to British media, Dr. Khalil Al-Ibrahim, Rector of Ha’il University, while talking to the media, said that the Saudi Ministry of Tourism has recently selected archaeologists from the University of Hail and several foreign experts to search and excavate in Hail and Al-Baith areas. In this regard, an ancient passage called ‘The Zubaydah Trail’ is being rediscovered, which is 1600 km long from Kufa to Mecca in Iraq.
