ISLAMABAD: A team from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has interrogated PTI Chairman Imran Khan regarding the US cipher case in Attock Jail.
The FIA’s cybercrime team, led by Deputy Director Ayaz, conducted the investigation with Imran Khan, the former prime minister. During the interrogation, he was questioned for over an hour concerning the alleged disappearance and unlawful use of the cipher.
Imran Khan is presently serving a sentence due to the Toshakhana criminal case ruled by the sessions court of Islamabad.
Authorities had lodged an FIR against Imran Khan, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and other party leaders for violating the Official Secrets Act and the PPC (Pakistan Penal Code). The case pertained to the unauthorized usage and misplacement of the cipher.
The FIA registered the case against Imran Khan and Qureshi on August 15. It pertained to the suspected misplacement of a diplomatic cable from the US, under the provisions of the Official Secrets Act 1923, Sections 5 and 9, along with Section 34 of the PPC. Interior Secretary Yousaf Naseem Khokhar requested the filing of the FIR.

Furthermore, ongoing diplomatic negotiations between senior PTI leaders and influential entities, aiming to secure the release of Imran Khan from Attock Jail.
Simultaneously, there are indications that the former prime minister might also face detention in Lahore.
Imran Khan is striving to obtain relief from his arrest and imprisonment. He is using diplomatic channels with various European nations’ ambassadors to exert pressure for possible concessions.
Rumors are circulating that Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, could potentially face arrest before his transfer to Lahore. Allegedly, the plan entails detaining Bushra Bibi before moving her husband to Lahore.
Furthermore, sources indicate that the caretaker government is awaiting authorization from influential figures before implementing any action.
