Home Dept Requests Names for Judicial Commission from LHC CJ in IUB Scandal

ISLAMABAD: In a significant turn of events in the investigation of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) scandal, the Punjab Home Department has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC), requesting the submission of names for the judicial commission.

Upon receiving the judges’ names, a judicial commission will be established to probe the alleged video scandal at IUB.

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi had previously announced the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the video scandal.

Earlier, Professor Naveed Akhtar, the acting Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB), informed the media that the university’s Chief Security Officer had been suspended and incarcerated, with investigation committee reports expected soon.

He acknowledged that the university’s internal issues had become more pronounced over time.

Syed Ejaz, the Chief Security Officer of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB), was arrested for alleged possession of drugs within the university premises.

An Anti-Narcotics Act case was filed against Ejaz, and samples of illicit substances and banned drugs were sent for forensic analysis.

The case stated that 10 grams of illicit substances were seized from Ejaz’s possession. The police reported, “Prohibited drugs were also discovered during the search.”

“Indecent videos and explicit photos were found on the accused’s mobile phone,” the First Information Report (FIR) revealed.

Additionally, last month, the IUB’s Director of Finance was also arrested for drug possession.
