Ali Muhammad Khan the PTI leader released from jail

ISLAMABAD: Authorities released Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan from jail.

PTI’s official Twitter account announced, “Our Ali Muhammad Khan, after spending 80 days in jail and facing 8 arrests and bogus cases, is finally out of jail!” The release occurred following the order by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) earlier today.

The court granted bail to the PTI leader, who had been arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law.

In addition, A two-member bench, comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Fazal Subhan, heard Ali Muhammad Khan’s plea and issued the release order.

Moreover, the court scheduled the next hearing of the case for August 8 and summoned the deputy commissioner of Mardan to appear.

It’s noteworthy that this marked the eighth time Ali Muhammad Khan had faced arrest.

PTI Leaders Quit Party Over May 9

The arrest of Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9 triggered violent protests.

PTI members and supporters assaulted state buildings around the country during these protests, setting them on fire.

As a result, there was a massive exodus of leaders from the previous ruling party.

At least 8 people died and several others suffered injuries during the protests, which lasted for almost three days.

The current coalition government has shut off internet access and sent troops into the field to keep the peace.

However, the authorities cracked down on PTI to find individuals guilty of vandalism in reaction to the extraordinary attacks on defence and public properties.

The senior civil-military leadership of the country vowed to hold the rioters accountable under all applicable laws, including the Army Act.
