ISLAMABAD: Punjab police have decided to include the name of former prime minister Imran Khan amongst the suspects involved in attack on GHQ and other army installations on May 9.
The Punjab police took the decision in view of statements of the accused under investigation.
The deposed PM and PTI chairman is expected to face charges pertaining the planning of the attacks.
Police decided it after holding consultation with legal experts, Samaa TV reported today citing sources.
Attack on GHQ and other military installations
In an unprecedented show of vandalism, the violent PTI protesters ransacked the gates of the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on May 9.
They also attacked and damaged the historic Corps Commander’s House in Lahore — originally known as Jinnah House. The Jinnah House once was as the residence of the founding father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The violent PTI supporters attacked the army’s offices and installations soon after the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case on May 9.
Imran Khan fears his arrest in two weeks’ time
Former prime minister and chairman of PTI Imran Khan again claimed that he would be arrested within two weeks.

“If the police arrest me, Bushra Bibi will share with you names of the core committee members who will run the affairs of the PTI,” Khan told his loyalists.
PTI chairman said that if he disclosed the names of the core committee members before his arrest, police will arrest them.
Hence, for security reasons, Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, will disclose the names of the PTI leaders who will become members of the core committee and run the party in the absence of Khan.
Imran Khan is facing a number of criminal cases, including the recent murder of a senior lawyer in Quetta. Khan feels that he can be arrested in any of the ongoing cases against him.
Imran Khan also directed the PTI leaders to hold protests when the police arrest him. Khan, however, asked his party leaders to organize peaceful protests in the country to avoid May 9-like situation.
