Malaysia Resolves Dispute: PIA’s Grounded Aircraft Released After Incorrect Dues Information Clarified

New information has come to light, revealing that the allegation of unpaid dues that led to the PIA aircraft forced grounding in Malaysia was actually based on incorrect information. As a result, the plane has since been released.

According to PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan, A legal dispute arose when a Boeing 777 owned by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was stopped at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

One of the mounted engines’ leasing companies asserted that PIA owed them $4.5 million. PIA, who claimed to be the only owner of the aircraft and acknowledged a debt of $1.8 million that had already been settled with the business, refuted this assertion.

The claim submitted by the leasing company to get the impounding order, according to a PIA representative, was judged “incorrect.”

PIA has hired the assistance of its Kuala Lumpur legal team to contest the situation in court.

According to the PIA spokesperson, while the disputed Boeing 777 will continue to operate as a regular commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur, the passengers who were impacted by the circumstance have been accommodated on an alternative aircraft.

It is important to note that this incident is the second time a PIA aircraft has been held in Malaysia as a result of a dispute.

Another Boeing 777 was held up in January 2021 for a total of two weeks due to a $14 million in unpaid dues issue.
