Instagram has unveiled numerous new features to make its Reels platform more enticing to producers.
In the field of short films, the social network has been aggressively battling with TikTok.
What’s new for Instagram Reels
Instagram said in a blog post that it has added new capabilities to its Reels platform to make it more accessible to producers.
One of the new features introduced is a section that helps authors identify what is popular on Reels.
To assist producers in creating content that people want to watch, the new area features top trending hashtags and music.
According to Instagram, “These are the types of insights you can tap into with the new trends destination.”
Furthermore, Reels features a redesigned editor that makes the task of aligning and timing pieces more apparent.
Also, The Reels interface now provides more specific information.
Information such as total and average view time, which users can access directly, as the analytics have been updated.
Moreover, Instagram has outlined the new metrics for Reels as follows:
Total watch time captures the total amount of time your reel was played, including any time spent replaying the reel.
Average watch time captures the average amount of time spent playing your reel, calculated by dividing watch time by the number of total plays.
For example, if your average watch time is 17 seconds, out of everyone who watched your Reel they watched an average of 17 seconds.
This will help you better understand where people are being engaged or where you may need to create a stronger hook to have viewers stay longer.
Instagram has announced that artists/creators would receive notifications when their Reels content gains new followers.
Additionally, the Gifts function, which allows fans to financially support authors, will be available in more countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Also, Instagram users will be able to use these new capabilities in the coming weeks.
