Pakistan sends two more relief planes to Turkiye for quake-hit people

ISLAMABAD/ADANA: Pakistan sent two more relief planes loaded with goods for the quake-hit people in Turkiye.

Two more consignments comprising of 2400 tents arrived at Turkiye’s Adana today via two chartered planes.

This was the fourth plane that had arrived from Pakistan, in the last 48 hrs, each carrying 1200 tents.

The Government of Pakistan launched a special chartered flight operation to expedite transport of 50,000 tents to Turkiye by third week of March.

Former Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan accompanied the plane from Pakistan.

Speaking to media, he said that Pakistan Turkiye relationship is a heart to heart relationship that transcends the boundaries of time and geography.

Pakistani plane carrying relief goods landed in Adana, Turkiye.

It is unique in a sense that strength of one country makes other stronger and pain of one country is felt by the other. Whether it be floods in Pakistan or earthquake in Turkiye, Pakistani and Turkish people have always stood by each others’ side.

Ambassador Burcu Çevik from Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the government and people of Pakistan for quick response and solidarity with Turkiye in this testing time.

Under the directions of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, earthquake relief supplies mainly winterized tents are being transported to brotherly Turkiye through air, land and sea routes.

From 7th February 2023 till date ,13 aircrafts have brought relief assistance goods to Turkiye . It includes three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130, one PAF  IL-78 , one Turkish Military aircraft, two Turkish cargo, three PIA chartered flights and three other chartered flights . Additionally, relief goods have been sent through belly space available on regular PIA flights to Istanbul. Also, a  21- truck convoy carrying approx 275 tons relief goods arrived at Malatya on 25th February 2023. Three ships carrying earthquake relief supplies are enroute to Turkiye, which will arrive at Mersin in third week of March.

The relief operations will continue from Pakistan till the complete recovery and rehabilitation.
