Two Cops awarded ‘death sentence’ in Osama Satti murder case

Court also sentences three to life imprisonment following trial that lasted for two years and one month

A district and sessions court in the country’s capital sentenced two suspects to death and three to life in prison in the Osama Satti murder case on Monday.

Additional Sessions, According to Judge Zeba Chaudhry’s reserved judgment in the case, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Mustafa were sentenced to death and fined Rs 0.1 million each.

Prior to the trial’s end on January 31, the court reserved a decision in the case.

It is vital to remember that the Osama Satti case trial lasted two years and one month, with Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Mustafa, Saeed Ahmed, Shakeel Ahmed, and Mudassar Mukhtar as defendants.

The defendants in the case are Anti-Terrorism police officers, and Raja Faisal Younis, a former secretary of the High Court Bar, is the plaintiff’s counsel in the murder case.

On January 2, 2021, at two a.m., Osama went to pick up his friend in Sector H-11.

He was on his way back when police officials halted his car in Sector G-10 on the Srinagar Highway and opened fire from all sides.

Three months later, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad struck down the terrorism-related sections in the murder case, and the case was transferred to a district and sessions court.

The announcement was delivered by ATC Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand in response to petitions for the repeal of anti-terrorism legislation.

The court, however, dismissed the accused ATS officer Mudassar’s bid for bail.
