Male Afghan students walked out of exam in protest against Taliban’s Ban on Girls’ Education

The Male students at Nangarhar University in Afghanistan decided to skip their exams in solidarity with the female students to protest against the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education.

Male students used signs to protest the Taliban regime in Nangarhar and Kandahar.

The Taliban’s higher education ministry issued an order prohibiting women from attending universities in Afghanistan for the foreseeable future, drawing harsh international condemnation.

The release of two Americans detained by the Taliban coincided with the United Nations Security Council meeting in New York.

The Taliban have widely applied their strict interpretation of Islamic law since taking over the country last year.

They forbade girls from attending middle and high school, barred them from the majority of jobs, and demanded that they wear nothing in public.

Women were also barred from entering parks and gyms, as well as travelling without a male relative.

The Taliban reclaimed control of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021. They ruled the country from 1996 to 2001 and violated women’s rights, including the right to an education.

After taking over for the second time, the Taliban promised that female student would have access to their inalienable right to education as well as all other rights. They, on the other hand, have broken their promise.

According to the Taliban, they always act in accordance with Islamic law. Afghanistan, ironically, is the only Muslim country that forbids female students from attending school.
