Governor of Bali asks tourists not to worry about ‘sex ban’ in Indonesia

Governor of Bali, Indonesia, Wayan Koster said that tourists must not worry about ban on sex outside of marriage.

Bali’s Governor dismissed concerns that Indonesia’s revised criminal code will throttle the island’s lucrative tourism industry.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster said, “People can only be prosecuted for sex outside of marriage in case of a complaint by a parent, spouse or child.”

He said that provision added to a draft of the legislation is to ensure “everyone’s privacy and comfortableness”.

Governor of Bali Wayan Koster further said that foreign tourists and residents “would not need to worry” about the revised laws.

He said that the authorities would not check the marital status of people checking in at tourist accommodations in Bali, Indonesia.
