Three officials of ANF suspended for extorting money from a passenger at Islamabad airport

Video shows the nature of tactics which the ANF officials are using at the airport to rob the passengers.

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force has suspended its three officials who extorted money from a passenger at the Islamabad International Airport.

A video of ANF officials deputed at the airport has gone viral on social media in which their expertise for extorting money from the passengers at the Islamabad International Airport is clearly evident.

Video shows the nature of tactics which the ANF officials are using at the airport to rob the passengers.

According to the ANF, three concerned officials have been suspended after a video went viral on social media which shows they extorted money/bribe from a passenger going abroad.

In the video, one of the three officials who got foreign currency from the passenger in front of his colleagues, can be seen in the video.

The same ANF official says that the goods are too much and he asked the passenger to take one shopper and leave the other.

Then the ANF official asks the passenger (not identified for security reason) to ‘do some service’ (khidmat) to take extra goods onboard.

The ANF official receives two foreign currency notes from the passenger. Interestingly, the passenger informs the ANF official that he has to take meal, resultantly the official lets him keep some money.

After seeing a viral video, the Anti-Narcotics Force has taken action against its officials and said: “In line with work ethics of ANF characterised by integrity and professionalism, the video viral on social media implicating ANF officials in illegal gratification is being scrutinised through a very high-level inquiry to ascertain the facts and apportion blame.”

Till the completion of inquiry, the concerned officials are being, ANF added.
