GHQ requests the formation of an investigative commission to investigate Arshad Sharif’s Killing

The General Headquarters (GHQ), the command post for Pakistan’s land forces, requested the creation of a commission to investigate the killing of senior journalist and former ARY News presenter Arshad Sharif in a letter to the federal government on Tuesday.
According to reports, the General Headquarters (GHQ) has requested the creation of a commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder of Arshad Sharif by Kenyan police in Nairobi.

The GHQ has encouraged the government to take legal action against anyone making unfounded accusations.

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed Tuesday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier announced the creation of a judicial panel to look into the shooting death of veteran journalist and former ARY News presenter Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

Sharif, a senior journalist who was killed in an accident on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, on Sunday night, accepted martyrdom.

He was travelling from the country’s Magadi town to Nairobi when the tragedy happened.

According to Kenyan media, Arshad Sharif and his driver allegedly violated a roadblock and were then shot in the head and killed by police.

According to the Kenyan media’s account of the incident, which was corroborated by the police, the manned roadblock had received information to stop a car that the Pakistani journalist and his driver were in after a carjacking incident in Nairobi during which a child was purportedly taken hostage.

Later, the official police statement apologised for the “unfortunate situation” and announced that an inquiry was ongoing.
