ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed today “publicly requested” the establishment to interfere in the current political situation and hold fresh elections.
Talking to media on Saturday after inaugurating a family park in Rawalpindi, Interior Minister outlined four ways to take the country out of the political crisis which ensued after the opposition presented a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“The first way is for establishment to immediately interfere and hold [fresh] elections after Ramzan or Hajj.”
The second way, he added, is that the political parties who tabled the motion as part of a foreign conspiracy must be banned.
The third solution is that if fresh elections are not held, all Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members National Assembly (MNAs) should resign from the assembly. “[Then] I will see how they run the country.”
“The fourth solution is…I never made public requests to the establishment, but today, I am publicly requesting the institutions that this is now the question of Pakistan’s sovereignty.”
Rasheed added that the fight has now reached the streets and the country cannot be run like this.
“The dissident [PTI MNAs] are unable to go into their constituencies. How can they represent people?” asked Rasheed.
Rasheed proclaimed a “political war” against corrupt politicians who looted the country.
“I have to unmask these dacoits whom even the courts couldn’t touch. Our courts failed to even indict the father and son [Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz] on February 18.”
Rasheed alleged that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Asif Ali Zardari receives extortion money from Sindh and that “institutions know the people who send the money every month.”
